Eclipse of the 'zwerg' (luna)

Sometimes I wonder what kind of scientist I am - I read about the greatest lunar eclipse in a long time just this morning. I was not really excited, instead I had organized a jam-session for a couple of guitar players, singers and another ukulele player. I enjoyed this evening a lot, but I guess I'm some other guy here - I saw the total eclipse by chance, I didn't have my camera with me, I had to argue with myself the whole way home to get my camera and take a shot of the late stage of the eclipse before I go to sleep...
Not everything is lost yet, I did it, I'm glad I did, I'm happy with the result - playing with the lense flares, but I almost did not do it...

Bet She'an בית שאן بيسان‎ Skythopolis Σκυθοπολις and the Dead Sea

Bet She'an has a lot of history! It goes back to the caananites and the eqyptians, flourished during the roman empire, became christian and was destroyed around 400 or so. I've been to some ancient ruins now, and there a quite a view that were destroyed by an earthquake around 400-500, I wonder if it was the same, shaking the whole region...

Finally we took the 90 down to the dead sea - and guess what, no wind, just hot air - it was so still, the dead sea was like a mirror. i've never seen that before. 10 min after we took pictures, a feint breeze came up, and the mirror was gone.

Belvoir

Another Fortress by the Crusaders, 'Belvoir' which is to the south-east of Akko, and not at all on the way to Jerusalem.

Zoom

It is quite clear, that the Crusader days are over...

Nice view to Jordan.

3 Huts (hut hut hut)

or Mt Tabor

Armageddon הר מגדו

The first place we visited was Megiddo, which had a huge strategic value in the ancient times, lying between babylonia and egypt guarding a mountain pass with a good view to the east.

source, some history

Some believe that this ancient, important place, is the place of the last battle - some weirdos believe, that the kings of the east will come in their Chinese tanks (i admit johannes mentioning a dragon is give away)

"The most notable object on view is a solid circular stone structure which has been variously interpreted as an altar or a high place. In either case it dates to the Canaanite period. " wiki
I guess this is the kind of altar Isaac started to avoid whenever possible.

What a grreat catch!

Sooo... i was kind of busy in mai refilling all the spectrometer during the week and going for bike rides during weekends - but i finally made one of my long awaited trips again. i joined daniel (who twisted his ankle at last football game - dangerous sport) and a friend of his as a driver on a trip to הגליל‎ around the ים כנרת.
I reviewed some places i already knew, but i explored some new places too. i have to go through all the photographs before i can tell the whole story.
Anyway, i got a couple of good shots, and got lucky again. We spent friday noon in Tiberias and had a great grilled peters fish with lots of garlic on a nice balcony right next to the lake. We watched a black-crowned night heron fishing - pple were throwing pita into the lake to watch the fish eating. There were some smaller ones, some tilapia and catfish. So the heron became interested.
When we decided to go I got up, took my camera to take a last shot of the heron, I did not realise he just caught a peters fish, when I pressed the trigger until I saw the photograph *ggg*.
